How to Grow Rainbow Blend Carrots

  1. Choose a location that receives full sun.
  2. Prepare loose, sandy soil before sowing.
  3. Remove rocks, clumps and hard lumps so the roots can grow straight.
  4. Check that the soil pH is approximately 6.0–7.0.
  5. Sow seeds directly outdoors in spring, approximately 1/2 inch deep.
  6. Space seeds approximately 1–2 inches apart.
  7. Leave approximately 18–24 inches between rows.
  8. Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and root development.
  9. Thin crowded seedlings carefully as the carrots develop.

Soil and Watering

Carrots grow best in loose, sandy soil that allows the roots to develop without obstruction. Heavy soil, rocks and compacted areas may cause forked, short or misshapen roots.

Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during germination and root development. Regular watering helps produce smoother, more tender carrots. Avoid allowing the soil to dry completely for extended periods.

Harvest

Rainbow Blend carrots are generally ready to harvest in approximately 65–75 days, depending on temperature, soil and growing conditions.

Loosen the soil around the roots before harvesting. Pull the carrots gently by their tops and remove excess soil. Young carrots may be harvested earlier for a smaller, tender crop.

Pests and Growing Concerns

Carrots may be susceptible to weevils and carrot rust fly. Monitor plants regularly and use clean garden practices, crop rotation and protective row covers when appropriate.

Natural Seed Notice

Germination and plant performance depend on temperature, moisture, soil quality, planting depth, sunlight, climate and individual gardening practices.

Root color, size and shape may naturally vary. The blend may produce different color combinations from one planting to another.
