Beta vulgaris. (50-60 days) Introduced in the 1750s, a very popular heirloom chard has been around longer than granny. Fordhook giant chard is a vigorous variety that is noted for its dark green, deeply savoyed leaves and thick white stems. Plants are tall at 22-27 inches and extremely wide.

Organic Fordhook Giant Chard

Abundant crops all season and even after the first frosts. Fordhook Giant has a nice mild flavor. Suitable for both the home garden or fresh market. Fordhook Giant Chard is an excellent poultry, rabbit and goat food source. I'm always looking for something that produces large amounts of "green material", that is highly nutritious and will do this in relatively small areas. This is a real winner in my book!
